Bandits Win NLL Championship!!!!!

Saturday was a big night in our house. Not only did mom & dad dazzle the ballroom world with their new found steps but Donal, Kari, Dave and I went to the NLL Championship game where the Buffalo Bandits took on the Portland Lumberjacks. The Bandits scored the first goal 22 seconds into the game, followed shortly by a goal from the Lumberjacks. That's pretty much how the game went from start to end. Amid a sea of orange with punches of black the Bandits went on to win with a 14-13 victory. To be fair to Portland, they put up a good fight and kept the game interesting. In true Buffalo fashion they got away with more than their fair share of penalties and got a goal (their 13th to be exact) that shouldn't have counted. But, the end result was in Buffalo's favor as the Lacrosse Gods smiled on us. Sporting their mohawks - all but Steenhuis who left his trademark curls - the Bandits took their Thank You lap at the end of the game. It made an already rockin' crowd scream just that much more. Queen's "We Are the Champions" played as the players took yet another Thank You lap, this time carrying the Cup. Tears fell, beer flowed, screams shook the walls and a general feeling of family filled HSBC arena Saturday. Walking back to the car, an orange clad Bandit fan summed it up perfectly, "I LOVE this town! I wouldn't trade it in a million years!" Ring on Bandit brother, ring on!
